The cliché “relationships come and go but friendships stay” – well, both come and go the same and if you ask me, a relationship is more likely to stay if you were to put relationships and friends whom you thought you are as important as you think you are to them together. The reason is a simple puzzle, it may have been one-sided all along.
Let’s drop the temporary friendships that you somehow knew it won’t last for long. Including those that fade away on its own. We’re talking about friendships you used to be able to see a future in. Like seriously, you thought you could be friends forever. I take friendships very seriously, to the same level that of a relationship except different – you won’t possibly do what you do in a relationship with a friend will you?
There were so many red flags but I stood by like an idiot. Each friend should mean something different to you because it shouldn’t be quantity over quality. I hate to burst your bubble but facebook is where the numbers of friends you have mattered more than how many of them you actually speak to out of the internet world.
It’s better to have an enemy who honestly says they hate you than to have a friend who’s putting you down secretly because truth is, sometimes the people you’d take a bullet for are the ones behind the trigger.
I never realized I wasn’t valued as much as I valued our friendship. Until now.
